Other Tablet Tools

At The Tablet UML Company, we're Tablet PC enthusiasts. We believe the Tablet PC is a powerful new platform, and will truly change how computers are used -- and more important, who uses them and where they're used.

But before that can happen, there needs to be a range of popular, powerful applications that will only run on Tablet PCs. These have to be the sort of applications that really demonstrate the power of the Tablet PC, or they have to be tools that make using or developing for a Tablet PC even better and easier.

So to help promote Tablet PCs in general, we're proud to provide this page of links to Tablet PC tools. If you have a Tablet PC tool that should be added to this list, please contact us.

Development Tools

These are tools aimed at Tablet PC developers, and also at developers in general.

• NetAdvantage Ink/Tablet PC from Infragistics. NetAdvantage is a set of UI tools for Windows Forms, ASP.NET, and COM apps. And they're all designed to make your applications "pen perfect" with ease.
• Med-Recs SDK from Health Dynamics Systems Inc. This is a set of tools for automatic medical record keeping via Tablet PC forms.
• Epro from Bluewire Technologies. Epro is an electronic patient record keeping system, with full Tablet PC support throughout.
• SignWare (PDF link) from SoftPro. These are a set of tools for signature capture, verification, and identification.
• E-Pen&Forms Builder from Design Universe. This is a toolset for building pen enabled forms.
• Form Component from Active Ink Software. These are tools for building electronic forms and embedding them in your applications.
• Mi-Forms from Mi-Co. These are tools for mobile data capture on Tablet PCs and other mobile platforms.
• Leszynski inTegrate from The Leszynski Group. These are tools to help developers learn how to build Tablet PC apps and also to simplify creating Windows Forms.
• InfiNotes from Agilix. These are tools to let developers easily add note-taking features to their Tablet PC apps.

Tools We Use

These are tools we use ourselves, and which we find particularly helpful.

• xThink Calculator from xThink. What can I say? This is my second favorite Tablet PC tool (after Tablet UML itself). You write equations by hand, and it calculates the answer and writes it into your workspace. This is math the way it was meant to be: hand written!
• abletWordMgr from abletFactory. A tool for managing your Ink recognition dictionary.

Tools We Heard About

These tools look good, but we haven't had a chance to try them yet.

• Corel Grafigo 2 from Corel. The demo of version 1 was pretty slick in the way it "cleaned up" hand-drawn geometric shapes. This version looks to have a lot more cool features.

• Math Journal from xThink. This looks even more like math the way it was meant to be: a tool that lets you write advanced formulae and graph or solve them.
