In UML, an object is an element that represents one particular instance of a classier. They commonly appear in sequence diagrams and collaboration diagrams.
All objects can be edited via their Detail Pages. Besides the usual Detail Page controls, the Detail Page for an object contains a Type dropdown box:
You can either enter a type name for the object or select it from the dropdown list.
